Envirovision Solutions has developed a number of custom software products designed to integrate with video surveillance hardware, bringing the advantages of image processing techniques into the security industry.

Image processing and analysis can be utilized to instill a measure of intelligence into automated surveillance systems. One example is allowing them to learn information about a scene. This allows the system to react more intelligently to changes in the scene, filtering out random noise and background movement so that security personnel need only focus on genuine alarm events.

Examples of surveillance systems

NICE Security Systems: In close consultation with FAST Systems (now part of NICE), EVS developed a set of tools for distribution on the FAST Alpha Encoder, a market leading digital encoder system used extensively around the world. These include Video Input Protection, an algorithm which automatically detects if a security camera has been tampered with, and Advanced Video Motion Detection, which learns about the background movement in a scene, which allows motion detection algorithms to be run without falsely alarming on movement such as trees blowing in the wind.

HomeAlarm: HomeAlarm is a surveillance solution intended for residential deployment. Its learning algorithms significantly enhance the operation of motion detection, which cannot easily operate in residential environments due to the large amount of background movement in such settings.
